1)
Begin at the Rutherford County Courthouse (A, see map below), travel south on Hwy.221S. You will see:
>>Victorian Lace Antique Mall
>>KidSenses Children's Interactive Museum

2)
Go .2 miles and turn left onto Charlotte Rd, go 1.1 miles, go straight across Hwy.74A, becomes Main Street, Spindale. You will see:
>>Barley's Tap Room
>>Spindale House (B)
>>Many former textile mills

3)
Continue 2.2 miles along Main Street to Forest City. You will see:
>>Hickory Log Barbecue
>>Cool Springs Veterans Cemetery (C)
>>First Baptist Church (1)
>>Farm Museum, 240 Depot Street (D)
>>Forest City with a downtown that has won many accolades for its beautiful landspacing
>>Elisha Baxter marker (2)

4)
Continue 1.4 miles to Bostic Sunshine Highway, turn left.
>>go 2.1 miles to Bostic Town Park, restored CSX caboose (E)
>>Bostic Lincoln Center

5)
At second traffic light, turn right on Old Sunshine Road. You will see:
>>Historic Methodist Parsonage (F-3rd house on right)

6)
Turn right onto Bostic Sunshine Highway, go .6 mile. You will see:
>>Abraham Lincoln marker (3) at Walker Mill Road on right
>>1.2 more to Historic Washburn House (G) and the General Store (4)

7)
Turn right onto Salem Church Road. You will see:
>>Salem United Methodist Church cemetery (H)

8)
Travel 4.9 miles, turn left on Hollis Road. You will see:
>>Historic Hollis (I) first WWI Veterans Memorial in North Carolina

>>>>

9)
Travel 2.7 miles, turn left on Duncan's Creek Road. You will see:
>>Duncan's Creek Presbyterian Church (J) in 3 miles

10)
Travel 2.9 miles, turn right on Bostic Sunshine Highway, go to the stop light. You will see:
>>Golden Valley Community Club (K) at stop light
>>Becky's Country Store and Grill, right .5 mile

11)
Turn left on Highway 226, travel 7.4 miles to Highway 64 West, turn right at stop sign, turn right onto 64 West. You will see:
>>Cane Creek Revoluntionary War battle marker (5) in 1.1 miles
>>Brittain Presbyterian Church in 8 miles
>>Rutherford Trace and Fort McGaughey (6)
>>James Milton Webb House (7) in 5.3 miles

12)
Travel .5 mile, turn right onto Old Gilbertown Road. Go .9 mile to intersection of Rock Road, turn left. In .9 mile, you will see:
>>Tanner Companies complex, including the Water Oak Restaurant

13)
As you leave the Tanner complex, turn right on Rock Road. Look for marker for first courthouse in Rutherford County on left (8).
You will also see markers for Ferguson Ridge and Gilbertown.

14)
Travel .7 mile to Highway 64-74. Turn right, go .5 mile, turn left onto Highway 221S (Main Street, Rutherfordton). You will see:
>>Joshua Forman marker (9) after .6 mile
>>.1 mile to St. John's Episcopal Church marker (9)
>>.1 mile to James Adair marker (9)
>>.1 mile to Carrier Houses (10)
